WORKSHOP: Headstands w/Wen Yee Kok

Join Wen for a 90-minute empowering and interactive workshop to explore the fundamentals of Headstand and build confidence going upside down.

Headstand, or “Sirsasana” in Sanskrit, is also known as The King of Asanas (poses). While headstand is usually given as an option in yoga classes, it is rarely broken down into its basics. This workshop aims to provide step-by-step guidance to enter and exit the pose safely, alignment in inversion, correct weight distribution, and body awareness.

What to expect:

Fundamentals: Learn the anatomy and alignment principles for a safe and stable headstand.

Preparation: Begin with an energising flow incorporating drills to strengthen, open and prepare the body and mind for going upside down.

Playtime: Enjoy ample time to explore, play, ask questions, and receive personalised support from Wen. Practise in pairs, with props, using the wall, or independently in a safe and supportive environment. Expect to fall out safely, laugh, get back up, try again, and have fun.

The workshop is open to beginners who are interested to learn the building blocks of headstand, as well as for regulars who wish to deepen their inversion practice and keen to explore other variations (e.g. Tripod Headstand, Funky Headstand). 
 

Whatever level or wherever you are on this journey, it’s not necessary to unlock a headstand on the day - it’s all about putting the steps in place and taking them away with you into your own practice.
