Community Class Teacher
Our Community Class teacher for January + February is:
Demi Patel
My yoga journey began around 8 years ago, when my sister first introduced me to the practice. I initially resisted yoga, struggling with a complex relationship to my cultural roots.
It wasn’t until years later that I realised my resistance was less about yoga itself and more about the stillness it invited me to confront. The quiet moments on the mat forced me to face parts of myself I had long avoided.
As I explored different lineages of Hatha yoga, including Iyengar and Ashtanga, I began to appreciate how yoga is much more than physical movement. It is a deeply spiritual practice that not only builds physical strength and flexibility but also emotional balance, mental clarity, and a profound connection to the self.
My offerings will consist of a short pranayama meditation to help ground and centre. This will be followed by a breath-led asana practice, encouraging mindful movement and connection to the body, closing with a deeply relaxing savasana, allowing time to absorb the benefits of the practice and leaving you (hopefully) feeling refreshed and balanced.
Demi will guide our Community Class in January and February 2025 - Sundays, 4.30-5.30pm
Our Community teacher for March + April is Lorna Picken
